KAYEC Otjiwarongo is in need of funds to expand its building, as most learners sit outside due to a lack of space.

The branch was opened in 2016 with the aim of making sure that no child drops out of school by helping them with schoolwork and keeping them busy with beneficial activities.

The impact of the youth development programme was greatly seen in those learners that visited KAYEC after school, resulting in more and more parents encouraging their children to be part of KAYEC.

This takes a heavy load off parents, as they no longer have to worry about homework, some of which they do not even understand.

Currently, the after-school centre has more than 200 learners, who are provided with meals on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, the centre operates out of a small house in Otjiwarongo, and volunteer teachers sit outside under trees or in the shade the centre provides.

To accommodate learners sitting outside for lessons and other activities, KAYEC Otjiwarongo is in need of a bigger building.

The centre is therefore calling on donors to help the centre keep more youth off the streets by contributing towards a bigger KAYEC building.

B2Gold Namibia has been sponsoring the centre to keep its activities running over the years and donated N$700,000 for this year's KAYEC operations.
