Two men, a father, and his son, appeared in the Rundu Magistrate's Court for raping their minor daughter and sister, respectively.

The duo was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping the minor at Naingopo Village in Kavango West's Ncuncuni Constituency.

It is alleged that the 63-year-old Angolan national raped his daughter and threatened her not to report what had happened.

His 18-year-old son is also accused of committing a similar heinous crime against his 15-year-old sister.

Both father and son, appearing in the dock as accused number one and accused number two, face one count each of rape and another of incest.

They also face one charge each of assault by threatening and engaging in an immoral practise.

The victim, who is deaf, is said to have defied the threats from her father and brother and reported the incidents to her teacher via text messages.

The teacher then alerted the police, which resulted in their arrest.

Prosecutor Variety Matamata objected to bail because of the seriousness of the matter and the fact that the victim and the suspects are domestically related.

They are remanded in police custody, but they can bring formal bail applications if they so wish.

Magistrate Sonia Sampofu postponed the case to July 10 this year for further police investigations.
