Kavango East Governor Bonifatius Wakudumo has directed the Education Directorate and the contractor to resume construction at Ndama South with immediate effect.

In a letter to the Deputy Director of Cooperate Planning in the Ministry of Education, Alex Sikume, Wakudumo says he has resolved the matter with all parties involved.

The Governor says he visited the two sites to familiarise himself with the situation on the ground, and it was resolved that work must continue at the Ndama South site.

Wakudumo, in his letter, told Sikume that the costs incurred at Ndama West, which was the wrong site, must be covered by the unforeseen works budget.

The Governor's communication was in response to the letter written by Sikume to the Acting Education Director, which stated that the Ministry will not pay for costs incurred at the previous site.

Sikume had also warned that if the construction at any of the two sites does not commence on or before the 23rd of this month, the funds could be diverted to other projects.

He noted that many communities nationwide are in dire need of schools and are experiencing a serious classroom deficit.

An unregistered school with about 400 learners and 15 volunteer teachers operated at the site in Ndama South, where the new school is meant to be situated.
