National Democratic Party (NDP) president Martin Lukato Lukato says his party is advocating for a federal Namibia.

The grassroots politician stated his party's readiness for the 2024 and 2025 national elections.

The NDP leader held an impromptu media conference to share some outcomes of the "party workshop held in Windhoek".

During the briefing with his senior vice president, Brave Mwilima, Lukato says his party is advocating for a federal governance system.

He argues that establishing a Federal State will give all Namibians an equal share of the country's natural resources.

"We advocate a system of government to include all ethnic groups of Namibia, black and white, as the objective. That's why for 33 years Namibians have continued to live affected lives, hence the need for this system. Namibia is rich, and the NDP is fighting to have ethnic groups be equally treated."

He feels that with Namibia's small population, the nation ought to have a better standard of living.

Lukato says this is part of the party's constitution and manifesto review workshop held recently, stressing that a federal system will end hunger, poverty, crime, and all other social evils faced by many.

Lukato therefore emphasised the need for all members at all structures to be sensitised about what is contained in the party's governance instruments as it prepares for the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly elections as well as the 2025 Regional and Local Authority elections.

On his part, party Senior Vice President Mwilima highlighted the poor living conditions of many Namibians.

"NDP will change from poor to rich; looking at the things for which they are not equal, you find that some are still in poor conditions."

The duo stressed their party's readiness for the upcoming elections.
