Employees of the Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA) today handed over their petition to the agency's Board Deputy Chairperson, Kingsley ǂGuiseb, in Windhoek.

ǂGuiseb assured the employees that the board will address all the grievances of the employees stated in the petition within a week's time.

The agency's employees have been demonstrating against what they regard as unfair labour practises at the workplace.

In their petition, the aggrieved employees noted that NAMPA policies are disregarded and not applied across the board, but only when they favour management.

They say the agency does not have a capacity-building policy and programmes; employees do not receive training, while management receives training.

They also noted that employees are working with outdated job descriptions that do not speak to the work carried out by employees.

They also claim that NAMPA procedures for promotion are nonexistent as there are no proper structures. They also expressed concern over the salary review that was carried out in 2022 but has not been implemented yet.
