The Republican Party (RP) does not support laws that permit the practises of the LGBTQ community.

Speaking at a media conference, the President of the Party, Henk Mudge, based his argument on the Bible.

He stated that the scriptures are unequivocal on the matter, which is not only deemed contrary to God's intentions but is also regarded as an abomination.

Although the practise is not new to Namibian society, it is obvious that it remains unacceptable to various multi-cultural and ethnic groups in Namibia, he says.

Mudge questioned the recent surge in demands from the LGBTQ community, pointing out that they are an integral segment of Namibian society and are entitled to all the rights and privileges outlined in the constitution.

Previously, the LGBTQ community conducted and kept their lifestyle fairly private, and therefore, the rest of the population was never challenged to publicly express themselves in a manner that would cause that community any harm. This, however, all changed with public protests, putting their once private lifestyles in the spotlight and centre stage while demanding acceptance of their lifestyles, which, according to the view of the majority of the population and the Namibian constitution, are not only unacceptable but unlawful."

Henk further emphasised the importance of fostering respect and love within both the LGBTQ community and among all Namibians, even in the presence of disagreements.

"We as the Republican Party will always respect and love our fellow Namibians irrespective of their choices, and we encourage all Namibians to do the same. Please understand that, by loving and respecting others as individuals, we under no circumstances condone or support their choices, actions, or behaviour."
