The chairperson of African Stars Football Club, Patrick Kauta, has announced his decision to step down from his position in November. Kauta made this revelation during the African Stars award ceremony.
Having served the club for over two decades, Patrick Kauta has decided to resign as chairperson of the Samba Boys, also known as Starlile. He joined the club in 1997 and became chairman in 2016 when African Stars transitioned into a professional team.
As a lawyer by profession, Kauta now wishes to focus on farming and his other business ventures , while passing on the chairmanship responsibilities to Salomo Hei.
Kauta expressed his continued support for the Samba boys despite stepping down. He believes it is time to pass on the baton to someone youthful with fresh ideas. Highlighting that he will officially step down in November, he conveyed well-wishes for his successor and emphasized that this transition is indeed necessary.
Kauta played an instrumental role in initiating "ejovi," which aimed at gathering one thousand people willing to pledge one thousand Namibian dollars each to support the club financially.
During the awards ceremony, pledges were made towards covering transportation and accommodation expenses for upcoming events. Additionally, funds were pledged towards supporting players' participation in this year's CAF Championship.
In a remarkable gesture of commitment, Kauta himself pledged seven million Namibian Dollars over ten years—an annual contribution of 700 thousand dollars—for sustaining and strengthening the club's future endeavors.
