A commotion broke out at Ella du Plessis High School when teachers and learners were locked outside for coming late.

Lateness is said to have been on the increase of late, prompting the principal to take this drastic action today.

When our news crew arrived at the school, we found learners and teachers gathered at the gate.

About ten teachers who were locked outside claimed that the gate closed five minutes early this morning.

Ella du Plessis High School Principal Jakavaza Katjiuanjo, who did not want to comment on camera, told the news crew that this was merely a warning and a wake-up call to both the teachers and the learners.

Katjiuanjo said coming late to school is an embarrassment, especially for the teachers, saying this is not the first time teachers have come late to work.

The Namibia National Teachers Union also showed up at the school and indicated to us that the matter at hand was internal and would be resolved as such.
