Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa addressed the media on Wednesday night, where he accused the country's electoral body of foul play.

Chamisa has expressed ‘serious concern’ over reports of polling stations that are said to have not yet started voting by the time of the voting deadline at 19:00.

Chamisa took issue with the fact that ballot papers for local authorities arrived late at several polling stations, delaying the commencement of the voting by hours.

He accused officials of "rendering the vote vulnerable to machinations and dark forces that operate at night," further saying, "That is my problem with the Harare vote and the rural vote. We were supposed to be counting, but now people are still talking about voting."

A number of polling stations, particularly in the capital Harare and Bulawayo, did not open on time, and nbc News has learned that a polling station in Harare’s Warren Park had still not commenced with voting after 19:00 on Wednesday.

Presiding officers at some of the polling stations informed nbc News that they would continue to allow people to cast their votes from the time the polling station opened until the 12 hours were complete.
