The Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust (NFCPT) is gearing up for the 11th annual Fish Consumption Day, to be held in Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region.
The NFCPT commenced their promotional campaign with a road show, which will, for the first time, cover all six constituencies of the region between September 20 and 29.
On September 30, after the road show, there will be celebrations honouring Fish Consumption Day at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex.
The event will be officiated by the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Derek Klazen.
Speaking to nbc News, NFCPT's operations officer, Kennedy Angala, said the main event is open to the entire public.
"There will be a cooking competition for fish, not for other types of meat; it's only specifically for fish, and then we are going to get the winner, the best cooker in terms of the fish."
Angala said that apart from the planned activities, the region also benefited as this year's recipient of funds raised by the trust at a gala dinner held at Walvisbay.
Angala said schools in line to benefit from the funds are those in dire need, to be identified by the regional education directorate.
