Lack of infrastructure development, access to potable water, schools, and clinics were some of the pressing concerns raised by community members during an outreach program led by Deputy Speaker Loide Kasingo in the Ohangwena Region.

A report on the mission was presented to the National Assembly by Swapo Party MP Paula Kooper on behalf of the Deputy Speaker.

The outreach programme covered seven constituencies within the region, drawing participation from various community stakeholders, including veterans of the liberation struggle, traditional and spiritual leaders, government officials, and local residents.

The programme highlighted the need for close collaboration between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Works and Transport to ensure that schools and clinics are easily accessible.

Recommendations were also made to the Ministry of Agriculture to consider building dams, particularly in flood-prone constituencies, and to encourage efficient use of available water resources.

Concerning communication networks, the community expressed dissatisfaction with the limited coverage, hindering access to information and communication technology benefits.

In response to the outreach programme report, the ministries of education, health, and agriculture have acknowledged the pressing concerns and pledged action.
