The town of Swakopmund, renowned as a top travel and leisure destination, recently unveiled a series of development and safety measures to enhance the experience of tourists.
The Town Council's Public Relations Officer, Linda Mupupa, shared exclusive details with our morning show, Good Morning Namibia, shedding light on the town's progress in the year 2023.
The festive season brings massive opportunities for businesses in and around coastal towns to profit.
Such opportunities also attract criminals, aiming to rob both businesses and tourists.
For this reason, the Swakopmund Town Council is on standby to protect visitors, businesses, and residents in general.
The Swakopmund Town Council has implemented an array of new security measures, spearheading efforts to establish a dedicated safety forum supported by both the local police force and government authorities. This collaborative approach aims to bolster security and reassure tourists.
To further ensure the safety of residents, the council has enlisted the assistance of a special reserve force. The highly trained personnel will actively patrol residential areas, providing an added layer of security and peace of mind for the community.
To address housing needs, the council has successfully provided housing to 805 residents in the town. This initiative aims to improve living conditions and enhance the overall well-being of the local population.
Recognising the threat posed by fires in prone areas, the council has also taken steps to mitigate this risk. One key measure implemented involves electrifying most of Swakopmund.
This move is expected to aid in the prevention and containment of fires, safeguarding the town's residents and infrastructure.
With increased security, improved housing, and enhanced fire safety measures, Swakopmund is poised to offer an even more enjoyable and secure experience for all.
