Police in the Omaheke Region have recorded more cases of housebreaking during the festive season, with zero fatalities reported on public roads due to accidents.

This was shared by the Police Regional Unit Commander for Community Affairs, Inspector Fina Sakayengenga, who said that the police have registered more cases of housebreaking during the festive period in town localities compared to other neighbourhoods in Gobabis.

Inspector Sakayengenga cautioned the public against leaving valuable items around their buildings when travelling out, as this can lead to house break-ins.

On a positive note, despite some minor accidents, no fatalities have been reported during the Christmas season.

"We are very grateful to the public or the community in the Omaheke Region, as we did not counter any fatalities during the festive season. We could really see that there was good adherence from the side of the public when it came to the use of roads and general in towns, like theft, pickpocketing, or those ones we also did not experience; the only one we experienced during that time was housebreaking."

Also during the festive season operations, the Omaheke Police received donations of tyres and car batteries from various local businesses.
