South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa says the late President Hage Geingob's ethical leadership is a worthy example to emulate.
Ramaphosa, who was in Windhoek today to express condolences to the widow, Monica Geingos, and the people and government of Namibia, says he has learned a lot from the late President.
Ramaphosa, accompanied by President Nangolo Mbumba, called on Madame Geingos at the private residence of the Geingo family on the outskirts of Windhoek.
Emerging from a meeting with Geingos, Ramaphosa said he and the late Namibian leader had a lot in common as friends, but what he learned from the late Geingob, particularly in the way he exercised governance and discipline in leadership, is priceless.
Ramaphosa said the late Namibian statesman relied on systems being properly structured, processes being well executed, and institutions being strong and resilient.
He said that the late President Geingob always reminded him of these if and when South Africa dealt with challenges.
The South African leader also expressed condolences to Namibians at large, explaining that the late Geingob loved Namibia in many ways.
Ramaphosa returned to South Africa this afternoon.
