The Hermann Gmeiner Primary School learners hosted a memorial service to pay homage to the lasting impact of the late President.

They extended their gratitude to his unwavering commitment to making education accessible to all.

He was a visionary leader and dedicated advocate who fought tirelessly to improve the educational landscape of the country.

The event commenced with a performance by the teachers' choir.

Learners expressed their condolences by sharing their own poems, speeches, and engaging in drama role plays dedicated to the late President.

On a brighter note, learners recited a medley of poems and speeches, joyfully celebrating the late President's remarkable contributions towards ensuring free education for all.

"He was a strong advocate for education and worked to ensure that every child had the opportunity to learn and succeed. Dr. Geingob will always be remembered as a great leader."

Learners in lower grades also crafted poems in honour of the late President.

Veronique Nyazo, a Grade 7 pupil, delivered a speech on the history of and the journey and achievements of the late president, shedding light on his path to the presidency and the impactful ways that defined his leadership.

"He dwelled in Augustanium for most of his days for education since 1958; in 1960, he was expelled from Augustanium for participating in a march in protest of the poor quality of education."
