The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia's (ELCIN), retired Bishop Kleopas Dumeni, says the late Head of State was a great man and an exemplary humanitarian.
Dumeni says he had the privilege of meeting the late President Hage Geingob back in exile and has fond memories of working closely with him at the Council of Churches in Namibia and at a Lutheran World Federation meeting they both attended.
He says Geingob was an extraordinary man, a true believer, and a dedicated Christian who always attended church services, adding that he was a good listener with a good heart and someone who was always willing to lend a hand.
"On several occasions, he used to call upon us, the church elders, to give him blessings and receive blessings thereof as well."
Retired Bishop Dumeni says that although the late President had many responsibilities, his greatest goal was to unite people from different backgrounds.
Dumeni says that as Namibians mourn this honourable man, they should hold their heads up high and give thanks for his serving the nation with great pride and distinction.
"My wife and I would like to offer sincere and heartfelt condolences to his wife, our beloved God-daughter Monica, and to our dear friends, Tate na Meme Kalondo, his children, and the entire nation of Namibia. May his kind and beautiful soul rest gracefully in eternal peace."
