A 28-year-old Zambian national, Chahinge Kahamba, was allegedly attacked and killed by unknown people in the Chantuhu area of Zambezi Region near the Namibian and Zambian borders over the weekend.

It is reported that the man, his wife, and their two children were crossing into Namibia from Zambia's Mwanawasa Compound a few kilometres from the Katima Mulilo Border Post.

They were attacked shortly after entering the bushes of Chantuhu by unknown men, but the wife and her two children managed to escape, leaving the husband and father behind.

The wife reported the matter to the Zambian police.

Zambian police searched the area on Sunday because on Saturday it was already dark and managed to find the lifeless body with deep open wounds.

The body was discovered on the Namibian side.

Police preliminary investigations found one pair of brown shoes, a baby blanket, and three cigarette butts at the scene.

Police suspect that the attackers might be a group of criminals ambushing those crossing into Namibia or Zambia with the intent to rob them of their personal belongings.
