An alliance of political parties and civic organisations has been launched in support of independent presidential candidate Ally Angula for the 2024 presidential elections.

Thus far, the alliance consists of four parties and civic organisations advocating for a government of national unity, and political parties with an interest have 14 days to apply to join the alliance.

2024 is a significant year in the political landscape of Namibia, as Namibians will be going to the polls for the National Assembly and presidential election.

This means that political players are expected to make their intentions known, and political candidates present their platforms.

The United Peoples Movement, Kingdom of God Party, National Empowerment Fighting Corruption, Namibian Youth Power, and KG Namibia have all pledged their support for the candidature of Ally Angula.

Angula's background is as a former deputy director in the Ministry of Finance.

Additionally, she has served as a board member of several corporate enterprises.

She made known her intention to occupy the highest office in the land last year, promising economic empowerment, robust anti-corruption reforms, and youth empowerment of up to 70%.

Speakers at the event emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration, highlighting the vision for a government of national unity under Angula's independent candidature.

The coalition has agreed to rally together for parliamentary seats, save for fielding a presidential candidate, instead supporting Angula as an independent candidate.
