The Secretary General of the National African Students' Association (NASA) says the association will continue to advocate for the well-being and betterment of students and learners across Namibia to achieve quality education for all.
Daniel Shiimi said this at the celebration of NASA's 5th National Anniversary held in Windhoek.
Shiimi noted that the association has identified that both the basic and higher education systems still face challenges that threaten the quality, accessibility, and inclusivity of education in the country.
When it comes to basic education, he pointed out the issue of limited learning facilities such as classrooms, limited learning and teaching resources, a lack of internet connections and computers at some schools, as well as a lack of sports facilities.
Shiimi noted that the association has and will continue to engage education stakeholders on how these challenges can be addressed to improve the quality of education for every learner and student.
Shiimi says the state of the association is in good shape; the association has managed to expand in all regions and all institutions of higher learning.
It has also managed to acquire registration with the Ministry of Youth and permission from the Ministry of Education to open branches at secondary schools.
The National African Students' Association was founded in 2019, and its mandate is to champion and represent the rights and interests of students and learners.
