To solicit inputs that will fit into the Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), the |Khomas Regional Council held a consultative meeting with stakeholders.

The |Khomas Region was the last region to be consulted on NDP6, covering all its ten constituencies.

The National Planning Commission (NPC), in consultation with regional councils, is undertaking the campaign and wider consultations with all stakeholders.

Through the consultations, various constituencies pointed out challenges such as lack of infrastructure development, water and sanitation, land, and housing.

"Today we have another opportunity as a region to jointly review, re-assess, and build on the collected views in our concluded grassroots consultations for proper consolidation of our regional inputs to the NDP6. This final joint consolidation process is very critical because it determines our blessed final projection," said Windhoek West councillor Emma Muteka.

The period of NDP5 has been the most challenging one due to the economic slowdown.

Therefore, the NDP6 plan aims to devise innovative ways to address the triple threat of poverty, unemployment, and inequality.

"The development of the Sixth National Development Plan is made under the prescribed socio-economic circumstances and global realities. Hence the theme: 'Fostering recovery, inclusiveness, and resilience for quality and sustainable development," added the Chief of the National Development Advisor, Sylvester Mbangu.
