Members of Parliament in the National Council urged the government to prioritise training for teachers and other stakeholders in the education sector to effectively navigate the revised curriculum.

They were contributing to the report of the Standing Committee on Education on the high failure rate of learners for the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Ordinary and the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate Advance Subsidiary levels in 2022.

Swapo Party MP, John Likando, said the shortcomings of the education system do not lie in the revised curriculum but rather in its implementation.

Likando emphasised that while the current education system is well-crafted, it suffers from inadequate resources and proper training for teachers. 

Nudo's Peter Kazongominja emphasised the crucial role of teacher dedication in enhancing quality education.

Swapo Party's Afleus Abraham stated that when teachers and other stakeholders are not adequately supported, it impacts the delivery of education and subsequently affects the outcomes of learners.

UDF's Sebastiaan !Gobs underscored that factors such as overcrowded classrooms, stemming from resource shortages and inadequate infrastructure, significantly impact the outcomes of both learners and teachers.
