The Okongo Constituency has launched the "Talk to your leader face-to-face" initiative, aimed at sharing information on developmental agendas as well as challenges facing the inhabitants.
Issues of the provision of clean drinking water, road infrastructure, livestock theft, and poor network connectivity featured prominently on the agenda.
The initiative is designed to facilitate open discussions on developmental priorities and challenges impacting the lives of its residents.
The initiative represents a significant milestone in promoting participatory governance and enhancing communication channels between leaders and the community.
It also seeks to bridge the gap between governance structures and grassroots realities, ensuring that policies and programmes are responsive to the needs of the community.
Ohangwena Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga says that by creating a platform for direct interaction and information sharing, the Okongo constituency is paving the way for inclusive decision-making processes and collaborative problem-solving approaches.
"There are multiple challenges that have been accumulating for many years, and they cannot be resolved in one month, one week, or one year, but if we are united, collaborative, and focused, we will definitely find a way to solve these challenges that are facing our people."
Some of the residents in attendance described the platform as a collective commitment to addressing pressing issues, exploring growth opportunities, and building stronger partnerships for the betterment of the constituency.
Okongo Constituency is home to about 31,746 inhabitants.
