Okongo Constituency forms 'Talk to Your Leader Face-to-Face' initiative for community development dialogue

The Okongo Constituency has launched the "Talk to your leader face-to-face" initiative, aimed at sharing information on developmental agendas as well as challenges facing the inhabitants. 

Issues of the provision of clean drinking water, road infrastructure, livestock theft, and poor network connectivity featured prominently on the agenda. 

The initiative is designed to facilitate open discussions on developmental priorities and challenges impacting the lives of its residents.

Ohangwena Regional Council sets bar higher for 2024

The Ohangwena Regional Council has officially commenced its operations for 2024, promising to work harder and deliver services efficiently and effectively.

Ohangwena Governor Sebastian Ndeitunga, speaking at the Eenhana Convention Centre, said the event was necessary to remind public servants of what is expected of them.

Ndeitunga reminded the regional council staff of their duties and what was expected of them.

The Ohangwena regional leadership is looking to resolve their current issues over grazing land with Angolan farmers.

The Governor, retired Lieutenant General Sebastian Ndeitunga, addressed the matter when he visited the Oukwanyama Traditional Authority along with the regional leadership.

High on Ndeitunga's agenda was the need for resolution on grazing areas with Angola's Cunene Province.

Ndeitunga calls on Namibians to find ways of resolving conflict

The newly appointed Ohangwena Regional Governor, Sebastian Ndeitunga, has called on Namibians, mainly the youth, to find ways of resolving conflict without resorting to violence to reduce gender-based violence.

Ndeitunga, who was appointed two weeks ago in the position, made this call during his maiden address as governor when he officiated at the regional launch of the Commemoration of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

The event was held at Ohaingu village in the Engela Constituency on Tuesday.

Namibian Police's former Inspector-General, Sebastian Ndeitunga, is the new Governor of the Ohangwena Region, effective tomorrow.

President Hage Geingob appointed Ndeitunga and relieved Walde Ndevashiya of his duties.

State House Press Secretary Dr. Alfredo Hengari made the announcement, stating that Ndeitunga is expected to ensure that all programmes and projects in the Ohangwena are fully implemented in line with the budgetary allocations.

Legal row between Chief Kanime and CoW continues in Windhoek High Court

A going legal row between Chief of the City Police Abraham Kanime and the City Council continued in the Windhoek High Court.

The council wants the City Police Chief to repay salaries paid to him by the municipality since his re-appointment in May 2020.

The Windhoek City Council in its court papers is demanding that Kanime pay back about six-comma-eight million dollars.

These include all salary payments, 13th cheques, as well as monthly housing and car allowances paid to him when he was allegedly appointed unlawfully.
