Otjiwarongo-based charity organisation Omake raised N$20,000 at a fundraising dinner in pledges towards the establishment of a safe place for vulnerable children and people with disabilities.

The construction of the centre is estimated to cost more than N$3 million.

The Omake Charity Organisation was founded in 2018 with the vision to establish a stay-in welfare and disability centre that will cater for more than 100 people and a soup kitchen to feed vulnerable children.

Since its formation, the organisation has raised more than N$100,000 for the stay-in welfare and disability centre. 

In the past, Omake donated clothes and blankets to hundreds of needy people during the winter, as well as food hampers.

It also hosts fund-raising events and fun days for the targeted groups annually.

First National Bank Namibia has been the main sponsor since the establishment of the organisation. 

This year's dinner event was sponsored by B2Gold Namibia and Miiyelo Tyres.
