The Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) fundraising dinner raised N$1.3 million.

The 23rd edition will attract both local and international businesses and corporations.

Mobile Telecommunications Company has become the official sponsor of the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair, pumping in N$350,000.

Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) pledged radio and television airtime worth N$400,000, while Standard Bank Namibia will inject N$250,000.

Ongwediva Mayor Taarah Shalyefu says the trade fair remains a blueprint in the town's developmental agenda to create a network between local and international businesses.

"It has facilitated networking opportunities amongst businesses; it has exposed entrepreneurs to small and medium business enterprises to markets. And a gala dinner like this one helps us to serve as a window of opportunities and a career guide to students, learners, and the youth."

Namdia's Chief Executive Officer, Annalisa Amupolo, says there is a critical need to innovate and capitalise on economic growth through sustainable business ideas.

The Oshana Governor, Elia Irimari, also launched a bull competition.

This year's edition will run from August 23–31.
