MICT hosts leadership retreat to tackle ICT sector challenges

The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT), in attendance of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc), New Era, and the Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), held a leadership retreat where they discussed strategies on how to address issues in the ITC sector.

The retreat, held at Von Bach Dam Resort outside of Okahanja, brought together board chairpersons, CEOs, and senior managers under MICT and its parastatals, where they shared their successes and challenges they encountered as well as how they would negotiate the way forward.

Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair raises N$1.3 million

The Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) fundraising dinner raised N$1.3 million.

The 23rd edition will attract both local and international businesses and corporations.

Mobile Telecommunications Company has become the official sponsor of the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair, pumping in N$350,000.

Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) pledged radio and television airtime worth N$400,000, while Standard Bank Namibia will inject N$250,000. 

nbc employees donate blood

The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) had its own blood donation campaign at its headquarters in the Northern Industrial Area in Windhoek on Thursday.

This follows an appeal by the Namibia Blood Transfusion Service (NAMBTS) for the public to donate blood as NAMBTS is running low.

The Marketing Officer of the Namibia Blood Transfusion Service, Frieda Vatileni-Asino, who was present at the nbc blood donation initiative, says blood donation is an essential way of life that must be supported to make a major difference in the lives of many people.

nbc DG acknowledges Geingob's impact on media freedom

The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation's Director General, Stanley Similo, commended the late President Geingob for his influence on media freedom during his visit to Casa Rosalia.

Similo, accompanied by his wife Alna, who is the current Principal of Suiderhof Primary School, visited the family of the late President Geingob to express their condolences and offer their support during this difficult time.

After signing the Book of Condolence, the nbc Director General stated that the late President made a significant impact on media freedom.

The Director General of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc), Stanley Similo, has motivated his staff to up their game now more than ever, as all eyes, both national and international, are on the national broadcaster.

In a meeting with his senior team today, Similo called for heightened levels of professionalism, both visually and technically, in the coverage of the official mourning period, memorial, and funeral services.

The national broadcaster is the designated broadcaster for the official memorial and state funeral of the late president.

Winna Mariba game show returns

This exciting comeback follows the signing of a five-year memorandum of understanding between the national broadcaster and Trustco Group, paving the way for a series of engaging programmes.

"The Goal" premiers on DStv

The film is part of the thirteen films by Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (nbc) and Multi-Choice Namibia.

"The Goal" film premiered on KykNET and DSTV.

The crew gathered at the Goethe-Institut to witness the premiere of the film.

The film tells the story of a talented young footballer from an underprivileged background who puts her scholarship at risk when she tries to fit in at a private school.

Otja Kooper, who played the lead character, sat with nbc.

The Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology (MICT), Emma Theofelus, has urged commercial banks to consider the establishment of a specialised loan programme tailored to support local filmmakers.

There are four pageants in which Namibia will be represented internationally.

Miss Namibia Jameela |Uiras will represent the country at Miss Universe, set to take place on the 18th of November this year in El Salvador. First runner-up Albertina Haimbala will be participating in the 72nd Miss World competition, with the country and date still to be announced.
