Former Education Minister Katrina Hanse-Himarwa has died.

Hanse-Himarwa (57) died early this morning at a local hospital, where she was battling stomach cancer.

According to sources, the former minister was in the high care unit in a coma but recovered and was moved to a normal ward, where she succumbed this morning.

An educator by profession, Hanse-Himarwa served as Minister of Education, Arts, and Culture from 2015 to 2019; before that, she served as Governor of the Hardap Region from 2004 to 2015.
