The Fisheries and Marine Resources Minister and the Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development have condemned the brutal killing of 23-year-old Josephine Nauses and her two children at Karibib.
Derek Klazen and Evelyn !Nawases-Taeyele, accompanied by the leadership in Karibib, visited the bereaved family of Josephine Nauses, who died on July 14.
It is alleged that Nauses and her children were killed when her boyfriend, 25-year-old Mandela Mbaunguraiye, allegedly set her shack on fire, resulting in his death as well.
Nauses allegedly reported the partner to the police after she was beaten for confronting him about his cheating ways.
"We ask our father's please; life is so important for all of us as Namibians, and what has happened here has really touched us. That's why, as fathers, we must stop what we're doing; we must stop taking the lives of our own beloved and our people. We cannot afford it, and we condemn what has happened. We condemned it as GRN; we don't want to see those things happening in our country, but what happened here could have been prevented," said Klazen.
"It is sad; despite all the efforts GRN is putting in place to deter gender-based violence, we still continue to kill each other. We must save the lives of our people; this we cannot condone and encourage as a government. We are calling upon our people to be peace-loving Namibians to belong to this one Namibian house that we all belong to; it is very sad," !Nawases-Taeyele.
The police are still investigating the murder-suicide case and have yet to inform the family when the remains of their loved one will be ready for burial.
The Nauses family is struggling financially, and they have called on good Samaritans to help them bury their loved ones.
