About 1,700 learners from seven schools and a kindergarten in the Zambezi Region benefitted from the Never Walk Alone Project over the weekend.

The learners received shoes, and for the first time since the start of the Never Walk Alone Project, 70 learners were gifted tracksuits.

The beneficiary schools include Katima Combined, Namalubi Primary, Imukusi Combined, Mukisa Kindergarten, Sikaunga Primary, Mafuta Combined, Batubaja Combined, and Caprivi Secondary Schools.

In addition, learners also received a pair of socks, each sponsored by Pep Stores, while at the same time, learners were treated to a meal.

Receiving the donation, Zambezi Governor Alufea Sampofu stressed that caring for the less privileged is an act of social responsibility that is worth emulating.

Sampofu called on all Namibians to live their lives by sharing acts of love among themselves. His message was delivered by the principal of Katima Combined School, Petuho Mutabelezi.

A representative of Momentum Metropolitan, Lamesia Uusiku, underscored the importance of shoes for a school-going child.

Chief Education Officer Elvis Liwakala, who spoke on behalf of the Education Directorate, applauded the timing of the donation.

The Never Walk Alone Project was founded on the premise of making a difference in the lives of every Namibian child.

The Zambezi Region is the ninth region to receive shoe donations from the project, valued at N$890,000 in total. 

The current donation was sponsored by Capricorn Foundation, Momentum Metropolitan, and Erongo Marine, amongst others.
