Namibia and Germany have co-funded two road projects in the Ohangwena Region for N$140 million.

The communities of Omukukutu-Omboloka in Oshikunde and Omulondo-Oshuuli in Ohangwena have been crying for a better road network.

Villagers here find it difficult to reach any other area without a 4-wheel drive due to deep sand.

Once completed, the gravel roads will provide improved mobility to villages and enable them to easily access facilities such as clinics and schools.

The two projects have a combined distance of 42 kilometres and are expected to be completed in 24 and 18 months, respectively.

The Deputy Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, commended the Geman government for its continuous support.

The projects will create temporary jobs for more than 400 locals.

Pregon/WML consulting engineers' joint ventures are the main consultants, while Emirates Trading is the main contractor for Omukukutu-Omboloka, and Omulondo-Oshuuli will be constructed by Eponga Trading with other SMEs.
