The Zambezi Bream Festival and Expo officially kicked off in Katima Mulilo this week. 

The Zambezi Bream Festival and Expo began on Sunday, aimed at uniting different communities, promoting local businesses, and supporting economic growth while allowing local vendors the opportunity to sell their products and services. 

The exhibition is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of fishermen and women who contribute to the local economy and to food security, describing them as cultural custodians who keep heritage alive.

"I would like to urge all exhibitors to use this opportunity to connect with potential customers; there are many people outside there who need fish to sell in their towns; connect with organisations that have the arms to assist in growing our industries," said Zambezi Region Governor, Alufea Sampofu.

The festival offers a platform for artisans, musicians, and chefs to showcase their talents, enhancing cultural appreciation and economic opportunities.

Chairperson of the United African Group, Martha Namundjebo-Tilahun, encouraged communities to work together to reach a common goal.

"In order to drive economic growth, we must harness the power of collaborations. We have been blessed with the wealth of natural resources, and it is our responsibility to leverage them wisely. Remember,  economic growth is not just about financial prosperity; it is improving the quality of life for all members of our community."
