The Zambezi Region has announced a major discovery of a high concentration of critical minerals that can elevate Namibia as a major supplier of minerals significant in energy transition and other enabling future technologies.
Announcing the discovery, Zambezi Governor Alufea Sampofu called upon enterprising companies and investors to participate in the next stage of pursuing the discoveries for the betterment of the region, the country, and the global family.
Sampofu said the region is traditionally and predominantly known as an agricultural and wildlife zone supported by tourism, ignoring other prospects related to mineral endowment and mining.
Sampofu also appreciated the fact that the Ministry of Mines and Energy allowed local participation in the mineral exploration.
The governor appealed to all stakeholders to continue supporting the efforts of the exploration company as it embarks on an extensive drilling stage to quantify their findings, which could result in the establishment of various mines.
The exploration company Zita Dias Diamond Resources Company's Chief Executive Officer, Phillip Mathe, pointed out that the critical minerals are widely used in renewable energy applications.
The founder of the Exploration Company, Clarina Dias, is happy that her efforts have paid off, as many people will be employed if all goes according to plan.
Dias also appreciated the support she received from the Zambezi Governor and the traditional authorities in the region.
