A lack of national documents may have led to the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) not meeting its target in the Kavango East and West regions.

This was said by the interim president of the Action Democratic Movement (ADM), Kanyetu Kanyetu, at a media briefing at Rundu.

The newly established ADM party called a media briefing to express concern over the low registration outcome in the two Kavango regions.

The party believes that if the issue of national documents was addressed before the start of voters' registration, the results could be better.

Kanyetu added that ADM fears that administrative errors by ECN may further reduce the current number as a result of mistakes recorded during the registration process.

Kanyetu says the party will write a letter to the Electoral Commission sharing advice for future use to avoid repeating the same mistakes next time.

ECN targeted a total of 1.6 million eligible voters and only managed to register just over 1.4 million potential voters.
