The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) recently conducted a two-day information-sharing session on human resources matters at Swakopmund.
Representatives from MICT offices in the Oshikoto, Hardap, Otjiwarongo, Omaheke, ||Kharas, and Erongo regions attended the session. The purpose was to work together, share best practices, and address common challenges in managing human resources within the ministry.
During the session, participants discussed several topics, including human resources policies and procedures, staff recruitment and development, performance management systems, employee benefits, and compensation.
Edward Ndjamba, Chief of Human Resources at MICT, highlighted how important these sessions are.
"Human resources are a key part of any organisation, and it's vital that we share knowledge and experiences to manage our workforce effectively," he said.
The sessions offered a great chance for staff from different regions to share their experiences, learn from one another, and explore new ideas in human resources management. They also learnt about the ministry’s training and development programmes, which include career planning and professional development.
Leonard Tshikesho, also from the Ministry's Human Resources team, shared information about employee benefits and compensation. He provided details on medical insurance, GIPF benefits, and the pay structure within MICT.
"These sessions have not only helped us exchange ideas but have also strengthened the relationship between our regional offices," said Tshikesho.
The information-sharing sessions received positive feedback from attendees, who valued the opportunity to better understand HR policies and how they impact their careers.
Ndekutela Iita, an administrative officer at the MICT Oshikoto regional office, expressed her gratitude for the chance to learn from her colleagues. "I found that the sessions gave us valuable insights that will help us improve at work," she said.
The MICT is dedicated to supporting its staff and creating a collaborative work environment, and information-sharing sessions such as these are important for achieving this goal and improving the overall effectiveness of the ministry.
