The Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) has confirmed its participation in the November 2024 elections after their re-registration, following a legal victory in the High Court.

The High Court overturned the Electoral Commission of Namibia's (ECN) decision to deregister the party over failure to submit audited financial statements.

Addressing the media today, NEFF's second-in-command, Iipumbu Kalimbo, expressed the party's readiness for the upcoming elections.

However, Kalimbo raised concerns about the ECN's ability to oversee a fair election, saying while they have been re-registered, the party has lost confidence in the ECN's capacity to manage a truly democratic process.

The ECN confirmed that it would comply with the High Court's decision and allow NEFF to participate in the elections but highlighted the party's repeated non-compliance with electoral laws.

The ECN also expressed concerns over the legal gaps in the Electoral Act and announced plans to petition the Chief Justice for clarification on certain provisions, particularly regarding party deregistration and sanctions.

Despite these legal and procedural tensions, the NEFF has made it clear that it will remain vigilant, ensuring its supporters' voices are heard in the elections, even as it questions the integrity of the electoral body.

Meanwhile, the party officially welcomed IPC member and chairperson of the Fidel Castro branch in the Samora Rachel Constituency, Elias Ndemuweda, who resigned from the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC).
