The Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture says it is in the implementation stage of the Transforming Education Implementation Charter 2023-2030.

This was revealed by the Deputy Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Knox Imbuwa, at the opening of the inception meeting on the implementation of the 2022 National Conference on Education Recommendations in Windhoek today (Wed).

The 2022 National Conference on Education identified educational challenges that hamper the ongoing education reforms and mapped out best practices and interventions to transform the system.

At the conference, 43 recommendations were passed for consideration to transform the education and training sector.

"We were given a budget of N$949 million, probably, I would say, as I indicated this is part of the ministry's, so we went from our internal resources from the basic education to look at where are the areas that are supported by this plan, and then we plugged out the funds that were relevant to that effect."

The 43 recommendations have been summarised into 10 key levers of change, including quality education, accelerating educational infrastructure development, TVET curriculum review and strengthening, expansion of digital learning and transformation, and education financing.

"I therefore urge this meeting to critically assess the NCE implementation progress and provide implementation strategies and solutions to support effective implementation of the NCE's recommendations," said Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture Anna Nghipondoka.

"In the context of higher education, the focus on vocational education and the special emphasis on research and innovation are vital to driving Namibia's economic growth, creating opportunities for our youth, and building a future where education and skills development serve as the foundation for sustainable development. As we move forward with the systematic implementation of the charter, it is clear that the success of this project depends on the strength of our partnerships. The government cannot achieve this transformation alone," added Dr. Itah Kandjii-Murangi.

The meeting is meant to brief key stakeholders regarding the Transforming Education Implementation Charter 2023-2030, which will be launched in due course.
