Vehicle sales in September have recorded a decrease of 0.8% compared to August figures.
The month of September saw 988 new vehicles sold compared to 996 units sold in August.
A total of 9471 vehicles have been sold thus far this year, representing 211 units fewer than the 9682 sold during the same timeframe last year.
Of these, 4224 were passenger vehicles, 4666 were light commercial vehicles, and 581 were medium- and heavy commercial vehicles.
Over the last year, a total of 12, 318 new vehicles were sold by the end of September, reflecting a marginal year-on-year decline of 2.4%, or 299 units, from the 12, 617 units sold in the equivalent period last year.
Toyota cemented its dominance in the market by taking up the lion's share of 48.4% of the sector sales so far this year; Ford follows with a market share of 11.2%.
In the medium commercial vehicle class, Hino holds a 29.3% market share, while Toyota follows at 23.6% share.
Scania remains the market leader in the heavy and extra-heavy commercial vehicle class, with 27% of the market share.
