Dr. Seth Eiseb, the Director of the University of Namibia's Southern Campus, said that despite its infancy, the Southern Campus is destined for great things. 

"And we assure you that the southern campus is destined for greatness, which is to achieve its full potential in contributing to the development of the ||Kharas Region, the nearby regions, and Namibia at large. And I believe that the southern campus is strategically located in southern Namibia, close to South Africa, to carry out its full potential." 

As most mining activities are currently taking place in the ||Kharas Region, the University of Namibia relocated its geology department to the Southern Campus, and Dr. Eiseb said this signifies the government's commitment through its decentralisation policy to capacitate communities where resources can be better studied and researched. 

About one hundred and fifteen students are currently studying in the field of geology at the Unam Southern Campus.
