As political campaigns reach their peak in the Kunene Region, President Nangolo Mbumba said the Swapo Party-led government remains committed to improving the residents' living standards by focusing on improved infrastructure, education, healthcare facilities, and economic opportunities.

He said this when he addressed supporters at Outjo.

President Mbumba said development is evident at Outjo, where water infrastructure was upgraded at Saamstaan Location, including a periurban electrification programme.

A project school has also been put up for N$8 million.

"In this sense, the Swapo-led government has carried out several projects in and around Outjo, with the most recent being Outjo Saamstaan electrification phases 1 and 2 at N$1.3 million. Medium- and low-voltage networks were installed, as well as 50 houses powered. The electrical network in Outjo was upgraded with transformers for N$500,000. Electrification of 41 houses in Outjo's 7de Laan phase 2 was done at almost N$500,000."

On educational successes, Mbumba said two rural schools were electrified and 20 classrooms constructed across the region to date.

Another commitment is sports infrastructure development, which Mbumba said is vital for a productive society.

"In the interest of advancing sports uniting our people in Kunene Region and empowering our youth, we undertook the following initiatives: the Governors Cup successfully hosted in Outjo for three consecutive years, bidding to host the Namibian Newspaper Cup in Outjo next year. successfully hosting the Opuwo mayoral cup with Khorixas and Outjo to follow."

With only a few weeks left before the national elections on November 27, Mbumba called on all eligible voters to go out in large numbers and exercise their democratic duty.

"As a party, we are ready to deliver. As cadres, we are ready to deliver. Our presidential candidate is ready to deliver. Therefore, comrades, supporters, and sympathisers of Swapo Party, please go to the polls and vote to give Swapo the mandate to govern another five years and keep on delivering.".

The event saw more than 300 people joining the party.
