Authorities in the Erongo Region have expressed satisfaction with the good behaviour demonstrated by both tourists and locals throughout the holiday season.
nbc News spoke to the Commander of the Community Affairs Unit, Chief Inspector Ileni Shapumba, who shared some insights on how the festive season has been for law enforcement in the Erongo Region.
Chief Inspector Shapumba says that during the holiday season, police officers had their boots on the ground to ensure the safety and security of communities.
He says with increased activities like shopping, touring, and social gatherings, they worked around the clock diligently to monitor high-traffic areas, prevent crime, and respond quickly to emergencies, all while maintaining a visible presence to deter potential threats.
Their efforts were aimed at helping create a sense of security and allowing the public to enjoy the season with peace of mind.
Chief Inspector Shapumba says law enforcement agencies, alongside municipal services, have reported minimal incidents.
He credits a well-coordinated effort between various stakeholders, including local authorities, hospitality providers, and the general public, for this positive outcome.
As a result, he adds the region has been able to maintain a welcoming and safe environment for both visitors and residents alike.
