The heavy rainfall yesterday damaged several houses in Windhoek, leaving residents scrambling to repair them this morning.
Among the worst-hit areas were Otjomuise, Havana, and Greenwell Matongo, where many homeowners were seen patching up broken structures.
Residents expressed frustration, stating that the frequent rains have forced them into a cycle of constant repairs. They are therefore calling on the municipality to implement long-term solutions to mitigate future damage.
City of Windhoek spokesperson Lydia Amutenya said the city's emergency rescue team worked late into the night, evacuating affected residents and providing temporary relief.
However, she says the city is yet to release an official report detailing the number of households impacted or plans for potential relocation.
