The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has expressed gratitude for the support they received from residents of Keetmanshoop over the past year.

The Chairperson of the Keetmanshoop SPCA Branch Lynette Oosthuizen said residents got involved in the society's programmes.

She added that the objective of the society is to give shelter to stray dogs, and she invited residents to leave their animals at the society's premises if they no longer need them.

"I want to thank all the people of Keetmanshoop. From when we started our kennels at the municipality stalls, people are getting so involved in our programs for helping the animals."

The chairperson added that people have become aware of animal health, some leaving them in the society's care when they go away.

Oosthuizen further invites residents to visit their premises and volunteer in activities.

The society constructed seven kennels for dogs and will add new ones during the course of the year.
