Six of the seven individuals accused of the murder of Matheus Sheehama appeared in the Walvis Bay Magistrate's Court today for a bail application hearing.

The suspects were arrested in July last year in connection with Sheehama's murder after his body was discovered at Independence Beach, Walvis Bay.

Sheehama had gone missing on July 27 after attending a braai with his girlfriend, Jessica !Gaes, who was arrested later that month in connection with his disappearance.

According to police investigation reports, Sheehama allegedly slapped !Gaes, which led to an attack by the accused suspects.

After a week-long search, Sheehama's remains were discovered washed ashore, prompting further arrests, including that of !Gaes and the seventh suspect, Moses Kandume.

The accused individuals face charges of murder, defeating the course of justice, and kidnapping.

The suspects include !Gaes’ brother, Jimmy !Gaeb, her ex-boyfriend Michael Awaseb, Marvin Wapota, Romano Paulus, and Enrico Gomachab.

The bail application process continues with cross-examination, and a verdict on the bail request will be delivered tomorrow, following the completion of the two-day hearing.

The conditions for any potential bail will also be announced at that time.
