The Governor of the Hardap Region, Salomon April, has characterised the late Founding President and Father of the Namibian Nation, Dr. Sam Nujoma, as one who had an unwavering commitment to the principles of freedom, human dignity, and being a father figure.

He shared the sentiments with nbc News, reflecting on the memories and legacy of the late Dr. Nujoma.

"I want to remember him as somebody that has unified otherwise ends that were not possible to be united or that we rather viewed as not easy to unite. So, therefore, he was like glue; he is like glue even now that sticks and keeps us together for one goal. The other thing I was wondering… I believe God blessed him differently because I would think if you look at what we have gone through before independence. You know the ups and downs and how we, as human beings, did not have meaning to some other human beings. And I thought after independence there would probably be an element of retaliation, no? Once again, he made us realise that humanity is bigger than anything. And then…therefore for us to be able to co-exist and to cohabit, he came in with what we call the reconciliation policy. It is not just a word he spoke; he made it possible."

April noted that Nujoma's name will remain engraved forever in the liberation history books of Namibia.

He called on the Namibian nation to complete the economic emancipation race started by the late Nujoma, who shaped Namibia's identity.
