Bisey |Uirab, CEO of Namibia Airports Company, stated that even during this time of mourning, the life of the late Founding President Sam Nujoma should be celebrated for the significant impact he had on Namibia.
|Uirab explained that Nujoma played a pivotal role in transforming airports, which were once intended as satellite facilities under the old regime, into international infrastructure.
He spoke today at a memorial service at Hosea Kutako International Airport, honouring the late President.
He further emphasized that, with Nujoma's support over the years, the Namibia Airports Company has achieved significant milestones.
The company takes pride in being part of his final journey, as his remains travel around the country, allowing the people he led to freedom to say farewell.
"It is indeed a proud moment for us to play this important role in ensuring that his body is safely transported, giving the entire nation the opportunity to bid farewell to the father of the nation. He has ensured that this infrastructure is in place so that we, as Namibians, can benefit from it," he stated.
Leonard Shipuata, Executive for Airport Operations, urged Namibians to take the opportunity to remember and reflect on the contributions of the Founding President.
"The establishment and growth of NAC Airports, driven by his foresight and determination, stand as a testament to his commitment to fostering an environment that enhances connectivity and effectively positions Namibia as a thriving logistical hub and a preferred tourist destination," he remarked.
Eunice Shihepo, Chairperson of Airline Operations, noted that Nujoma's departure has left a lasting impact on the nation.
"As an aviation committee, we recognise Dr. Nujoma's efforts in fostering national development, which have been instrumental in advancing Namibian infrastructure and connectivity. His legacy continues to inspire us to strive for excellence and unity," she said.
