The Ministry of Health and Social Services has launched a Customer Service Charter to improve the quality of healthcare services provided to all Namibians.

The charter aims to ensure that citizens can access healthcare services without facing financial hardships, reinforcing the ministry's commitment to delivering equitable and high-quality care.

Through the service charter, the ministry aims to foster an environment where high standards of care are met, emphasise public obligations, set service standards, and promote responsibility and accountability.

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Kalumbi Shangula, stated that the charter aligns with the National Development Plan, ensuring that all citizens receive the best possible healthcare.

He emphasised that this charter is a pivotal step toward improving healthcare services across the country.

"This Charter reflects their efforts and serves as a tool to promote a culture of service excellence in our ministry. I, therefore, urge all staff members to embrace accountability, both on an individual and institutional level. Similarly, I encourage patients and customers to remain vigilant and to hold us accountable. The Charter contains mechanisms that enable you, as our patients and clients, to express your concerns. Your feedback serves as a vital mechanism for us to assess our performance and align ourselves with the expectations of quality care and service that you rightfully deserve."

The Service Charter is aligned with and guided by the Ministry's high-level statements, specifically its vision and mission to provide quality healthcare that meets international standards.

The ministry pledged to deliver integrated, affordable, and accessible healthcare and social services that continuously adapt to the evolving needs of the population.

Customers are encouraged to be honest, respectful, and to comply with existing legislation when they seek healthcare services.

The charter will be made available in multiple formats to ensure accessibility by all citizens.
