Over the past 23 years, the tournament has helped uncover rising stars in football and netball who have gone on to represent national teams, making it an integral part of Namibia’s sporting landscape.
Isack Hamata, spokesperson for the Namibia Football Association, highlights the Cup’s importance, stating that it’s been crucial in giving young players a stage to shine and gain national attention.
Coaches have the opportunity to select players directly from the tournament for regional and national teams, showcasing the increasing significance of this event.
Sophia Simon echoes this sentiment, noting that the tournament also promotes community engagement and infrastructure development while fostering a strong sports culture. It offers young participants a chance for personal growth, while also boosting regional pride and support.
