Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare laid wreaths yesterday at Heroes Acre in honour of the late Founding President Sam Nujoma and Hage Geingob.
Dr. Ngurare told the nbc News team that he often visits the Heroes Acre in honour of Namibia's fallen heroes and heroines.
"I always come here; of course, there are a lot of heroes lying here, including John Pandeni, who was my boss when I was his PA, and many others, so I come all the time. Now this one specifically is really to pay my respect to the Founding President and to the third President as well as the others lying here, and we must do it all the time so that we remember what it has taken for us to be free."
He urged Namibians to continue honouring the fallen heroes and heroines who fought for Namibia's independence by visiting the Heroes Acre. When one honours those who have fought for us, it also helps us with the new responsibilities that we have so that we make sure we don't betray the gains of the Namibian revolution so that we make sure that we deliver to the expectation of those who laid their lives down for this country."
The Prime Minister also emphasised the importance of unity among Namibians as the country strives for economic emancipation.
"With that said it means that we must consolidate on the unity of the country and second liberation struggle which is economic independence when we continue to strive towards that i think they will rest in internal peace and if we do the opposite they will not rest in internal peace so its our duty and obligation to continue honoring them and to always honor this secret place for now and for those that will come after us."
