The Trans-Kalahari Corridor Secretariat held a farewell for former Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa, to recognise his contributions to regional trade and transport integration.

As Mutorwa steps away from public office, he was encouraged to continue contributing to Africa, particularly regional development.

The TKCS Executive Director, Leslie Mpofu, highlighted the strong relationship between the TKCS and the Ministry, emphasising Mutorwa's hands-on leadership in trade facilitation and regional cooperation. 

He commended Mutorwa's strategic guidance, mentorship, and dedication, describing him as a leader who balanced firmness with compassion.

Mpofu acknowledged the former Minister's role in simplifying cross-border matters and improving transportation infrastructure across the region.

Botswana's High Commissioner, Phemelo Rankoro, emphasized the strong historical ties between Namibia and Botswana, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening their bond.

He highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the two nations and commended the former minister for his dedication to the Trans-Kalahari Corridor.

Rankoro said Mutorwa was always actively involved in its development.

Mutorwa stressed the need to enhance relationships between the three countries involved in the TKC, calling for further discussions to ensure the corridor continues to evolve.

The Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, praised Mutorwa for his dedication and highlighted his intention to carry out his ministerial duties with the wisdom he has gained from him. 

Nekundi acknowledged the former minister's lifelong dedication to serving the Namibian people, stating that he had committed his youth and adulthood to public service, investing his time, talent, and energy.
