High Court Judge Anne-Doris Hans-Kaumbi has adjourned Michael Amushelelo's contempt of court case until this afternoon.

In court earlier, Amushelelo stated that he had only managed to raise approximately N$32,000, which he deemed insufficient to secure legal representation from his preferred lawyer.

He also claimed that he had not read the legal documents submitted by the legal team representing Police Chief Joseph Shikongo.

However, Shikongo’s legal counsel countered this claim, arguing that Amushelelo had actually shared Shikongo’s affidavit on social media, indicating that he was fully aware of the legal proceedings.

They further contended that granting Amushelelo a postponement until Friday would allow him to continue defying a standing court order.

Amushelelo expressed to the court that he is fighting against the state and facing a powerful individual who is “no ordinary Namibian.”

He accused Shikongo’s lawyers of targeting him, a layperson, in an effort to enhance their own reputations.

Additionally, he revealed that his chosen lawyer, Kadhila Amoomo, could not represent him due to unpaid debts he owes the attorney.

Before adjourning, Judge Hans-Kaumbi warned Amushelelo that, having acknowledged he raised N$32,000, he is ordered to have a lawyer present by 14:00.
